On 22 April 1983, Saurabh was born in Orai, Uttar Pradesh, India in a Brahmin family and grew up with his siblings. As a child, he joined Saraswati Shishu Mandir Orai for primary education and moved to Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Sanatan Dharma Vidyalaya for secondary education.
After that, he joined the Dayanand Vedic College for a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and decided to pursue a master’s degree in Hindi literature and enrolled in JNU.
While finishing his master’s degree at JNU, Saurabh discovered his passion for journalism and joined the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi, and completed a diploma degree in 2007.
Subsequently, he finished his MPhil degree in Hindi Literature from JNU and was encouraged to complete a Ph.D. in Hindi. However, he left his Ph.D. in the middle and pursued a career in journalism.

Saurabh started his initial journalism career in 2007 as an intern at Star News for two months. After completing an internship, he moved to join Live India News Channel and worked for a few months as a reporter.
Later, he joined the Times group as a senior correspondent and worked for the group for more than three years.
In the middle of 2010, Saurabh joined the Dainik Bhaskar group as the news editor for the Ludhiana edition and also as the head of a city paper called City Life and an education paper titled Education Bhaskar.
