Kelly Preston was born on 13 October 1962 in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States. Her full name was Kelly Kamalelehua Smith in which Kamalelehua means “garden of lehuas” in Hawaiian. Her personal life has a lot of problems and difficulties, after the death of her father, her mother got married to Peter Palzis who was a personnel director. Peter adopted Preston and she had a younger half-brother, Chris Palais. She attended Pembroke School in Adelaide and after completing her education from Pembroke School, she moved on to Punahou School in Honolulu. She gained theatre knowledge at the University of Southern California.
Preston got her first break by the film The Blue Lagoon (1980), after the success of The Blue Lagoon, she received many offers from her directors.
