Early life
Gerard Butler was born on 13 November 1969 in Paisley, the United Kingdom in a Catholic family of Irish descent. His father Edward Butler is a bookmaker and mother Margaret is a home maker. After a year of his birth, his parents marriage brokeup and his moved on to Scotland with him. He has completed his school education from St Mirin’s & St Margaret’s High School in Paisley and made his journey to University of Glasgow School of Law. After completing his studies, he developed his keen interest in acting and joined Scottish Youth Theatre. At the age of 22, Butler’s father diagnosed with cancer and died and after this incident he was out of his control and started drinking alcohol. For which he had been arrested, but soon he overcome the situation and started preparing for his final year at law school.
After graduation from law school, he took a position as a trainee lawyer at an Edinburgh law firm. He made his old friend who was a casting director and she took his audition for Steven Berkoff’s play of Coriolanus. Butler received a lot of projects and started his acting world.
