He belongs from a Catholic family of Irish descent and he has completed his education at the University of Glasgow School of Law. After studying law, he started his acting career with a small role in the mid-1990s. Early life
Gerard Butler was born on 13 November 1969 in Paisley, the United Kingdom in a Catholic family of Irish descent. His father Edward Butler is a bookmaker and mother Margaret is a home maker. After a year of his birth, his parents marriage brokeup and his moved on to Scotland with him. He has completed his school education from St Mirin’s & St Margaret’s High School in Paisley and made his journey to University of Glasgow School of Law. After completing his studies, he developed his keen interest in acting and joined Scottish Youth Theatre. At the age of 22, Butler’s father diagnosed with cancer and died and after this incident he was out of his control and started drinking alcohol. For which he had been arrested, but soon he overcome the situation and started preparing for his final year at law school.
