The Jengaburu Curse is India’s first-ever sci-fi thriller series, directed by Nila Madhab Panda and produced by Studio Next in collaboration with Sony Liv. The show is scheduled to be released on August 9, 2023, and will be available exclusively on Sony Liv.
Story and Plot of The Jengaburu Curse
The show is set in a small mining town in Odisha and follows the story of London-based financial analyst Priya Das, who is forced to return to her hometown when her father, Professor Das, mysteriously goes missing.
As Priya commences her quest to find her father, she encounters a series of mysterious events, unraveling an unthought-of connection between the mining state of Odisha and the indigenous Bondia tribe.
Furthermore, the series also delved into the insatiable human hunger for natural resources, which causes catastrophic environmental degradation. In an interview, the director of the show, Nila Madhab Panda, said, “Through Jengaburu, our aim is to entertain the audience as well as raise awareness about the dire need for environmental conservation.”
