Neeraj Chopra is an Indian track and field athlete, who throws javelin. He created history by winning a gold medal in javelin throws and became the first Indian to do so. He has given a gold medal to Indian almost 13 years later, the last time India won an individual gold medal in the 2008s Olympics. Neeraj is also known for winning a gold medal in the 2018 Asian Games Jakarta and the Commonwealth Games Gold Coast.
Neeraj grew up in Panipat, Haryana, India along with his family and relatives. He went to Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College for graduation. Being a child with obesity, he was forced to join a gymnasium at Madlauda and went to Panipat Sports Authority of India center. In the sports complex, he liked throwing javelin and threw more than 40m without preparation. Neeraj decided to make a career in the same field and joined Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex in Panchkula.
