Miller began playing cricket in the early teenage. He was born and raised in the Natal province, South Africa. His father name is Andrew miller and his mother name is Julia miller. He has one brother and sister. In the beginning of his career he used to play cricket at the schools and in small matches. David made his first class debut at the age of 18 in the Dolphins at that he has scored half century which attract the eyes of many players and team.
He made his breakthrough in South Africa A team when he scored 370 runs in Dolphins. David got selected in the limited over’s series against Bangladesh where he score 195 runs in 5 matches. After this he also got selected in the South Africa national team on the tour to West Indies.

David made his very first appearances in 2011 IPL from Kings XI Punjab at that time he was bought at US $100,000. At the beginning he didn’t performed better in the match later on 2013 he was one of highest run scorer from Kings XI Punjab which attract the eyes of many franchises and later on he has got offer from Rajasthan Royals.
