Ben Stokes Wiki Biography: Benjamin Andrew Stokes commonly known as Ben Stokes is a British Cricketer. He was born in Christchurch, New Zealand. Stokes moved to England with his parents at the age of 12 and started playing cricket there.
Ben Stokes started playing professional cricket for his school team. He played for Cockermouth Cricket Club. He made his first-class debut for Durham in 2009. Stokes got selected for his national team in 2011 and made his ODI debut against Ireland.
Ben Stokes played his first IPL match in 2017. That year he was bought by Rising Pune Supergiants. Next year in 2018 he was bought by Rajasthan Royals. Stokes still plays for Rajasthan Royals since 2018.

Career
Ben Stokes first played cricket for his Cockermouth School. He played for the Cockermouth Cricket Club. He made his Domestic debut for Durham in 2010 in Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. In the same year he also marked his Championship Debut for Durham. Due to his fine performances in First class cricket, he was selected in the squad for Australia tour in 2010-11 Ashes.
He made his ODI debut against Ireland on 25th August 2011 but didn’t perform well in his debut match scoring only 3 runs. Then he was selected in the T20 Squad for a T20 series against West Indies. He made his T20 debut on 23rd September 2011 against West Indies. In the year 2012, he didn’t play for England due to continuous injuries.
Ben Stokes then made his comeback in England team when he was selected for the Ashes 2013-14. He made his test debut on 5th December 2013 against Australia in the Ashes 2013-14. Ben was ruled our of T20 World Cup 2014 due to injury. He got this injury when he punched the locker. Ben Stokes didn’t get place in England’s squad for 2015 World Cup. He was selected in the Squad for 2016 T20 World Cup.
England were runners up in that tournament. In the final match, 19 runs were required in the final over and Stokes bowled the final over. Stokes was hit by four consecutive sixes by West Indies’ All-rounder Carlos Brathwaite. Ben Stokes was also part of England’s squad for the 2017 ICC Championship Trophy.
Then he was selected for England’s squad for the 2019 World Cup. In the opening match, he was man of the match. He took the catch of Andile Phehlukwayo which is described as one of the greatest catches of all time. He also scored 89 from 79 balls in that match. In the 2019 World cup, England reached the finals.
Stokes scored the unbeaten 84 to draw the match. Then he batted with Jos Buttler in the super over but super over was also a draw. Then because of Boundary Count Rule, England was made champions that year. England won an ICC World Cup for the first time. In the 3rd Test of 2019 Ashes, England was bowled out for 67 runs in the first innings then Ben Stokes played one of the greatest innings of all time. Ben Stokes made his IPL debut in 2017. He was bought by Rising Pune Supergiants for 14.5 Crores Rupees. He made his maiden IPL century against Gujarat Lions that year. In the 2018 IPL season, Ben Stokes was bought by Rajasthan Royals for 12.5 Crores. He was the most expensive player in the 2018 IPL Auction. Rajasthan Royals retained him for 2019 season so he also played for Rajasthan Royals in 2019 Season.
