Anuj began playing cricket when he was in school and he used to play in the gully as well. Later on, looking at his passion for the cricket his father joined his coaching center.

During that time he used play domestic cricket for Uttrakhand and made his first-class debut in Ranji Trophy for Delhi it was t he beginning of his career. Soon after making appearances in the Ranji Trophy Anuj got chance to play Twenty20 debut from Delhi in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
