Chahal was born on 23 July 1990, in Jind, Haryana, India. He developed a great interest in both chess and cricket at the age of seven, his coach Ashwani Kumar trained him in cricket and set him for cricket. In the year 2003, he represents India and was named in to achieve the India junior champion (U-12) in chess and he also represents India in both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and in Twenty20 Internationals (T20ls).

At a very tender age he has achieved everything that he dreams through his childhood, he was the only son in his family and he has two elder sisters so due to this he had gained a lot of love and attachment from his parents.\

Chahal was first signed up by Mumbai Indians in 2011, he had worked so much hard to be selected in the Indian cricket team. Recently on 8^th August Chahal got engaged to Dhanashree Verma, who is a You Tuber, choreographer, and dentist.

He was a national-level chess player and when he was 10 years old, he started developing interest in cricket and was being clear to choose cricket as a profession.

In the year 2009, he made his first-class debut against Madhya Pradesh in Indore. After showing his good performance in Indian cricket, he made his debut for IPL in 2013 for Mumbai Indians, and in 2014 in IPL match he received Man of the Match award against Delhi Daredevils. He was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore in January 2018.

Chahal is a very popular chess player who represents India in the World Youth Chess Championship and being titled the most junior chess player in India. After some time he left chess and started developing interest in cricket and used to play in domestic cricket for India, luckily after seeing his efforts in several domestic matches he was named to play in ODIs and T20s. He was the only first Indian bowler to take 5 wicket haul in a T20 match.
