Nicholas Alexander Simmons also known as YBN Nahmir was born on December 18, 1999, and grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. He was raised in a house along with his mother, cousins, and aunt. He enrolled at Clay-Chalkville High School in Clay, Alabama, though he dropped out ensuring the success of “Rubbin Off the Paint” on December 5, 2017. He completed his graduation in May 2018.

Nahmir was interested in music since he was fourteen years old and was gifted an Xbox 360 for Christmas. Nahmir started playing the video game named Rock Band (which he would subsequently utilize to document his first-ever song). In April 2018, Nahmir signed a collaboration with Atlantic Records. He was later designated as one of the components of the American hip-hop magazine XXL’s “2018 Freshman Class” on June 12, 2018, contending in a cypher with Wifisfuneral and Stefflon Don.
On July 13, 2018, Nahmir informed through Twitter he would have a Tour in Europe in the fall of 2018 along with Cordae and Almighty Jay. They would be visiting Germany, France, Sweden, Poland, and many other countries. The collective YBN released YBN: The Mixtape in 2018 along with MGK, Lil Skies, and Gucci Mane, among others.
On March 22, 2019, he released a track titled “Baby 8”. In the same year on June 10, 2019, he launched a music video named “Opp Stoppa” which went viral over TikTok.
