Career

• Sturgill began his musical career in 2004 after forming a musical band named “Sunday Valley” along with some of his friends. He performed along with the band in several festivals and towns of the USA before abandoning the band in 2012. 
• In 2013, Sturgill began solo and released his debut album “High Top Mountain”. The album was commercially successful and more than 100k copies were sold in a short span of time. The band also recorded 31st rank in US Top Country Albums chart and high ranking in several other charts. 
• In the following year, Sturgill released his second solo album “Metamodern Sounds in Country Music”, which recorded 8th rank in the US Country Album chart and 59th rank in US Billboard 200. The album was a huge commercial success as well as it received a nomination in the Grammy Awards for Best Americana Album category. 
• In 2016, Sturgill signed a deal with Atlantic Records. In the same year, he released his third album “A Sailor’s Guide to Earth” which received the Grammy Awards in Best Country Album category. Besides this, he has released more popular albums such as Sound & Fury, Cuttin’ Grass, Vol. 1: The Butcher Shoppe Sessions, and Cuttin’ Grass, Vol. 2: The Cowboy Arms Sessions.
• Besides this, Sturgill has appeared in several popular music videos like “Railroad of Sin”, “Breakers Roar”, and “Make Art Not Friends”. He made his acting debut in 2011’s movie Orca Park. His work in the movie was limited. He appeared in the main role in the 2018’s television series named One Dollar. The show was commercially successful and his work in the show was commendable. He has also appeared in several movies such as The Dead Don’t Die, Queen & Slim, Materna, and more.

In 2014 and 2015, Sturgill received three Americana Music Awards in different categories for his song “Turtles All the Way Down”. In the same year, he received a nomination in the Grammy Awards for his second album Metamodern Sounds in Country Music.
