The popular social media influencer Shina Novalinga was born on July 5, 1998, in Puvirnituq, Nunavik, Canada. At the age of four, she moved to Montreal along with her parents and younger sister, Catherine Lizotte.
In terms of her educational qualifications, Novalinga obtained a graduate degree in business management from John Abbott College in Quebec in 2021. Followed by a one-year program in Inuit Studies at Nunavik Sivunitsavut in Montreal.Â
After completing her graduation, she quickly turned her focus toward social media platforms and began posting her Inuit cultural and modeling content on her @shinanova, TikTok, and Instagram handles.
Subsequently, her traditional modeling content went viral and earned her several millions of followers and likes on the platforms. On her social media handles, Novalinga also shares her Inuit throat singing videos along with her mother, Carolina Novaling.
She shared her first throat-singing video in March 2020 on the TikTok platform, and since then she has posted several videos. Along with her mother Caroline, she embraces her singing fondness for traditional culture, using the rhythm of her throat, belly, and diaphragm.
Having a fondness for singing since a young age, Shina then launched her first debut album, Daughter Throatsinging, in June 2021, featuring her mother. The album was produced by renowned Canadian producer Simon Walls.
