Sherrill Redmon is an American feminist scholar and former director of the Sophia Smith Collection. She is famous as the first wife of renowned US politician Mitch McConnell. The couple was married in 1968 and divorced in 1980. Together they had three children. After divorced, Sherrill became a feminist scholar at Smith College and director of the Sophia Smith Collection.
Sherrill was born and brought up in Louisville, Kentucky along with her parents and siblings. She went to Seneca High School for elementary education and moved to the University of Louisville for a degree in bachelors of arts. Subsequently, she completed her Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky in 1974. Presently, she works with various organizations for children’s and women’s development.Â
