In 2013, Sharmin started her early career as an assistant director and assistant to her uncle in Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. The film was a global hit and went on to win multiple awards.

Subsequently, she went to work as an assistant director on multiple critically acclaimed movies like Mary Kom (2014), Bajirao Mastani (2015), Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), and others. 

Sharmin made her acting debut in 2019 by playing the lead role of Astha Tripathi, opposite Meezaan Jafri. The movie received positive reviews globally, and her impeccable performance earned her a nomination for best female debut at the Filmfare Awards.
