Sakshi Malik is an Indian freestyle wrestler and media celebrity. She is best known as the first Indian women wrestler, who won a medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. She is also famous for winning a bronze medal at the 2015 Asian Wrestling Championships in Doha.
Sakshi grew up in Rohtak district, Haryana, India along with her parents and siblings. She attended DAV Centenary Public School for higher education and moved to Maharshi Dayanand University, Haryana for graduation. Being born in an athlete’s family, she began wrestling at the age of 12 at Akhara in Chhotu Ram Stadium, Rohtak under the guidance of Ishwar Dahiya and Mandeep Singh.
