On November 28, 1982, Malcolm was born and grew up in New York City, New York, alongside his siblings. Growing up, he found his passion for acting and attended the Julia Richman Talent Unlimited Program while studying in high school.

After graduating from high school, he studied theater arts and film at SUNY Purchase College Acting Conservatory and subsequently enrolled at The Patterson Studio in New York.

In 1997, Malcolm made his acting debut as Shawn, a supporting character in the drama show “Color of Justice.” A few years later, he was cast to play the supporting role of Lamont Tyler in the crime-drama show “Law & Order,” which was both commercially and critically successful.
