Born on April 23, 1999, Laufey grew up in Reykjavík, Iceland, alongside her family. She was fond of music from a young age, and during her time at school, she learned to play the piano and cello. Upon graduating from high school, Laufey earned her bachelor’s degree in music from the Berklee College of Music.

Following her passion, Laufey started her music journey at the age of 15, playing cello with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Subsequently, she participated in the 2014 Island Got Talent and ended up as a finalist. The following year, Laufey participated in The Voice of Iceland.

Throughout the show, she performed fabulously and finished as a semi-finalist. Following her early popularity on the shows, Laufey released her debut single “Street by Street” in 2020. The single received positive reviews and became a massive hit in a short time.
