Karly Marina Loaiza, better known as Kali Uchis, is a singer, songwriter, and composer from the United States who is worldwide recognized for winning the Grammy Awards for her song “10%” (with Kaytranada). She is also known for releasing multiple chart-topping albums, songs, and EPs, including Isolation, Red Moon in Venus, Orquídeas, Por Vida, Lottery, Tryant, Time, and others. 

Early Life

On July 17, 1994, Kali was born and grew up in between Virginia, USA, and Colombia, alongside her siblings. She attended Alexandria City High School, where she found her passion for writing as well as her siblings. Upon graduating from high school, Kali made the decision to pursue a career in music.

Career

In 2012, Kali started her singing journey and released her debut mixtape, “Drunken Babble,” which received mixed reviews. Subsequently, she worked with Snoop Doog on his mixtape “That’s My Work 3.” She then released her first-ever EP, “Por Vida.” The EP was a commercial and ranked top in several music rating charts around the world. 

Following her early popularity, Kali released her first studio album, “Isolation,” in 2016, which received positive reviews and received gold certification from the RIAA. The album was a global hit and also ranked 7th in the UK R&B Singles and Albums Charts and 32nd on the US Billboard 200. 

In 2021, the singer received the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording for her song “10%” (with Kaytranada). Apart from this, she has released numerous award-winning albums, eps, and songs, including Red Moon in Venus, Orquídeas, To Feel Alive, Loner, Tirano, Just a Stranger, Telepatia, Moonlight, La Unica, Te Mata, Labios Mordidos, Never Be Yours, and others.
