George P. Bush career’s journey started in 1999 when he joined as a Public High School Teacher in Homestead, Florida, later he left that position and joined the law school in Texas. After going to law school he worked as a clerk for U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Texas, Sidney A. Fitzwater.

In 2007 the United States Navy Reserve announced the selection of Bush for training as an intelligence officer through the direct commission officer program. He joined this service when he attended the October 2006 launch of the aircraft carrier named for his grandfather, this event inspired him to join this service.
