Dana began her career as a trainee reporter at KTSC-TV while completing her bachelor’s degree. Later on, she joined the WCIA channel as a reporter for the Illinois Capitol. She gained popularity after being appointed as an assistant to Congressman Scott McInnis.

In 2003 Dana began her work in the White House staff as an associate director of communications. She served as Deputy Press Secretary between 2005 to 2007.

In 2007 Dana became White House Press Secretary after the retirement of Tony Snow. She worked with President George H. Bush from 2007 to 2009.

In 2009, Dana joined Fox News as a political commentator and hosted shows such as The Five and more. In the same year, she became a member of the Broadcasting Board of Governors. Presently, she hosts a talk show named “America’s Newsroom”.
