Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro commonly known as Cristiano Ronaldo is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a forward for Serie A club Juventus and captains the Portugal national team. He was born in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal.

Cristiano Ronaldo played for amateur team Andorinha from 1992 to 1995, where his father was the kit man, and later spent two years with Nacional. At age 16, Ronaldo was promoted from Sporting’s youth team by first-team manager László Bölöni, who was impressed with his dribbling. Ronaldo became Manchester United’s first Portuguese player when he signed before the 2003–04 season.
