As per the Hoover Police Department, Carlee called 911 in an emergency Thursday around 9.30 p.m. when she saw a toddler walking alone on the side of Interstate 459 South. She immediately stopped to check on the kid and called her sister-in-law to share information about the kid.
During the call, she lost connection with her sister-in-law; however, the line was open when the dispatch team reached there. The police said they found Carlee’s car and other belongings, but there were no signs of the kid she was talking about.
Talking to the media, Carlee’s mother said, “She’s known to be helpful, and she has a big heart. And she does know not to stop for anyone, even a child on the side of the road. But she did call 911. And I think she kind of let her guard down, thinking they were so close. And when she got out of the car, she did tell my daughter-in-law, ‘I can’t just leave this little child on the side of the road.”
The police department, along with local volunteers, are carrying out extensive search and rescue operations, but they have not received any reliable clues yet. Carlee’s friends and family are praying for her safe return as soon as possible.
According to media reports, there has been no breakthrough in Carlee’s missing case as of now. The police have released helpline numbers and urged fellow citizens to report if they come across any news related to Carlee. As per CNN reports, the department has also announced a reward of $25,000 to whoever reports her whereabouts.
