Amber began her career as a writer and stand-up comedian in 2001 by performing in local clubs and theaters of Omaha. In 2008, she moved to Amsterdam to work as a writer and stand-up comedian with the improv comedy troupe. In 2012, she gained initial fame as a comedian after working with the YouTube comedy group called RobotDown.

With rising initial fame as a comedian, Amber worked in popular Tv shows such as Key & Peele, Wish It Inc, and others. In 2014, she joined Late Night with Seth Meyers as a writer and till now works in the show. Besides this, she performed in numerous award and Tv shows including Above Average Presents, 75th Golden Globe Awards, You’re Not a Monster, A Black Lady Sketch Show, and Village Gazette as an actress.

In 2021, Amber launched her comedy show titled The Amber Ruffin Show, which is telecast on NBC and Peacock Networks. Her show was nominated for a Writers Guild of America award under comedy series. In addition to this, she co-authored a book called “You’ll Never Believe What Happened to Lacey: Crazy Stories about Racism” along with her sister Lacey, which was on the list of New York’s Best Seller List.

Amber has a Youtube channel titled “The Amber Ruffin Show” with more than 152k subscribers. She mostly uploads comedy, pranks, and lifestyle vlogs on the channel. Her debut came in 2020 titled “Trump Won’t Commit to a Peaceful Transfer of Power: Week in Review | The Amber Ruffin Show”.
